Outlander star’s gin arrives in the US
Sassenach, Outlander star Sam Heughan’s spirits brand, has announced the arrival of its Wild Scottish Gin in the US market.
Sassenach Spirits, the drinks division of Great Glen Company, was founded by Heughan and American entrepreneur Alex Norouzi.
Heughan, who plays Highland warrior Jamie Fraser in the hit TV series, said: “Sassenach Gin is truly a celebration of Scotland, our nature, our heritage, and our wonderful flavours. We used botanicals that are synonymous with Scotland and some with which people may not be familiar. The result is a clean, radiant, and delicious spirit that makes for excellent cocktails to share with friends.”
Botanicals including heather, wild Scottish apples and pine lend Sassenach Gin a taste of the wild Highlands, while savoury undertones of toasted oats and rhubarb offer a taste of a Scottish kitchen.
“For me, the perfect way to experience Sassenach Gin is what we call the Perfect Serve: a simple Sassenach Gin and tonic, garnished with a slice of fresh green apple,” Heughan shared.
The 42% ABV spirit will be distributed by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits with an RRP of US$39.99 for a 75cl bottle.
In November last year, Sassenach Spirits’ single malt whisky secured its first UK listings at chef Tom Kitchin’s restaurant. The year before that, Heughan lost a trademark dispute with a German distillery over the naming of the whisky.
Heughan even launched a Tequila under the Sassenach brand in collaboration with El Tequileño.
