Aldi offers English vineyard visits for under £3
Aldi is offering UK shoppers a tour of an English vineyard for a mere £2.67 as part of an English Wine Week ‘Specialbuys’ during English Wine Week (17th – 25th June).
The UK discounter has teamed up with one the producer of its Specially Selected Bowler & Brolly English Sparkling wine, Lyme Bay Winery in Axminster to offer the vineyard tours along with a tasting with Aldi’s wine specialist, Sam Caporn MW. This will take place in Crouch Valley, Essex, where the winery’s pinot noir and chardonnay grapes are grown a partner growers, in early September.
Tickets are already on sale and are scheduled to run until he end of English Wine Week in June or until they sell out.
Aldi’s managing director of buying Julie Ashfield, said that the retailer was proud to be at the forefront of making English sparkling wine “accessible for all”.
“There’s no better time than English Wine Week to launch this fantastic opportunity – celebrating an industry that is seeing rapid growth year after year thanks to suppliers such as Lyme Bay Winery which is putting English wine on the map,” she said.
Sam Caporn, MW added that home-grown fizz is “an exciting and up-and-coming category”, which was being increasingly recognised with awards for both its sparkling and still wines and she was “

The retailer reported that it has seen a large boost to its sales of English wine, up 240% in the last year, with six English wines stocked on its shelves costing between £9.99 and £19.99.
