The Three Drinkers announces third series
Aidy Smith and Helena Nicklin return to the screen this May for the third series of Amazon Prime travel show The Three Drinkers, this time heading to the French region of Cognac.
The Three Drinkers in Cognac will follow Smith and Nicklin on a cultural tour in and around the French region.
Now in its third iteration, the concept of the travel show is to “showcase drinks through a lifestyle lens, in a relaxed, unintimidating setting,” Nicklin commented.
The two hour series is made up of four 30-minute episodes in which the hosts, along with a special guest, discover the art of Cognac with famed houses including Remy Martin and Courvoisier alongside Cognac and bitter orange liqueur, Grand Marnier.
Smith said of the new series: “One of the most important aspects of this series is to highlight that cognac doesn’t belong at the back of your grandparent’s cupboard and we’ll be exploring a number of simple serves and cocktails that the audience can create from the comfort of their homes or be inspired to order the next time they’re at a cocktail bar.”
The drinkers also check out local gin makers Audemus Distillery, and look into the world of mixers, sodas and tonics with series sponsor Franklin & Sons.
The ‘third drinker’ spot this series is occupied by two guest presenters: Virgin Radio presenter and Persian foodie Eddy Temple-Morris alongside a returning appearance for travel presenter, journalist and influencer Eulanda Shead-Osagiede. Smith and Nicklin are tasked with inspiring spirit sceptic Temple-Morris into falling in love with the delights of the Cognac region, while Shead-Osagiede seeks out some of the hidden lifestyle gems of the region, setting the duo amusing tasks along the way.
The series dives into highballs and cocktails for different occasions and takes a look at the unique dishes of the Cognac region. Its hosts try their hand at watersports, chocolate-crafting, shoemaking, beekeeping, become hotel waiters and collecting botanicals from within the Charente wilderness for their own locally-inspired gin.
Smith and Nicklin have voiced their goals to bring more diversity and equity into the world of drinks. Guest host Shead-Osagiede said of their endeavour: “The importance of diverse talent on-screen amplifies the narrative that all our voices matter. The Three Drinkers is a great example of this, looking at the talent within the show and I’m so proud to be a part of that movement.”
The Three Drinkers in Cognac follows on from the 2022 series set in Ireland. The Three Drinkers do Scotch Whisky, Smith and Nicklin’s first series, is still streaming live on Amazon Prime in 172 countries and territories worldwide.
