New whiskey inspired by Elvis Presley’s favourite snack

Spirits brand Elvis Whiskey has debuted its latest ‘Midnight Snack’ flavoured dram, inspired by the King of rock ‘n’ roll’s favourite sandwich.

South Carolina-based Elvis Whiskey has launched a new peanut butter, banana and bacon-flavoured whiskey into its portfolio.

The new spirit was inspired by rock ‘n’ roll icon Elvis Presley’s favourite decadent sandwich, the flavours of which just so happen to create “a perfectly balanced blend of sweet, savory, salty and smoky” notes when recreated in whiskey form, its makers have said.

The Blue Suede Shoes singer was renowned for his food cravings, including the Fool’s Gold Loaf, a loaf of French white bread filled with a pound of bacon, peanut butter, and grape-flavoured jam.

Midnight Snack is the third product to come from Elvis Whiskey, joining the brand’s flagship offerings Elvis Tiger Man Tennessee Straight Whiskey and Elvis The King Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey.

Elvis Whiskey is part of the portfolio of Charlston-based Grain & Barrel Spirits.

“Elvis is one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century and continues to inspire his fans today, as we’ve seen by the massive success of the recent Elvis movie, both in its record-breaking box office numbers and awards,” said Matti Anttila, founder of Grain & Barrel.

“To sip, or shoot-flavoured whiskeys are continuing to grow in popularity, with flavoured whiskey growing +19% and peanut butter flavoured whiskey growing +200% in the United States, leaving our team especially excited to introduce ‘Midnight Snack’ to our growing portfolio of Elvis-inspired whiskeys.”

Grain & Barrel Spirits recommends serving Midnight Snack as a straight pour, over rocks, as a shot or in a simple cocktail like the Midnight Snack Old Fashioned. The 70-proof whiskey inspired by Elvis Presley’s favourite snack is priced at US$34.99 and can be found in stores nationwide, as well as online sites like Caskers and Reserve Bar.
