ProWine Shanghai 2023 eagerly anticipated
As China reopens to international travellers, ProWine Shanghai prepares to welcome exhibitors and trade visitors from overseas this November.
ProWine Shanghai, taking place from 8 to 10 November at Shanghai New International Expo Center, will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Fittingly, this year’s edition looks set to mark a return to pre-pandemic normality, with the quarantine regulations for entrants recently lifted.
As a result, foreign exhibitors will be returning. Business France will be staging French wine regions and AXA Millésimes will also be making its ProWine Shanghai debut. There will also be contingents from Wines of Portugal, Wines of Germany and the California Wine Institute, and Cantine Sgarzi Luigi, Italy’s biggest wine exporter to China (as of 2021).
Additionaly, there are a number of events planned ahead of the three-day fair to canvas important visitor groups. These include celebrations for Malbec World Day (in cooperation with Wines of Argentina) on 17 April and roadshows with the Yinchuan Wine Association. Additionally, to mark the fair’s 10th anniversary, there will be two additional ProWine events, staged in Beijing (at the China World Hotel from 1-2 June 2023) and Shenzhen (at the Futian Shangri-La Hotel from 30 June-1 July 2023). Furthermore, there is also ProWine Hong Kong to look forward to (at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 10-12 May).
While recent years have presented numerous difficulties for the wine trade, consumption is developing on a positive trajectory, according to the China Wine Distribution Association, with younger people in particular driving this growth.
