From 2 to 5 April, Francesca, Alessio and Santi Planeta will be showcasing their winery’s entire wine portfolio, comprising 30 separate wines grown in 371 hectares of vineyards, with an annual production of 2.4 million bottles, at the Planeta stand at Padiglione 2 Sicilia – Stand 17 B.
The last year has also brought a number of new developments for Planeta. The Monte Cirami winery, the brainchild of Diego Planeta, opened in Sambuca di Sicilia with the 2022 harvest, and is exclusively dedicated to the production of premium reds: Didacus Rosso, Burdese, Maroccoli and Sito dell’Ulm.
Indeed, new vintages of Didacus (Didacus Chardonnay 2020 and Didacus Cabernet Franc 2018) will be available to taste at Vinitaly.
Furthermore, the fair will provide attendees with the opportunity to ask about the Ab Insula project, the initiative to promote Sicilian products across the globe first launched in 2021. There are currently two parts to the project: Serra Ferdinandea, the 100-hectare estate between Sciacca and Sambuca di Sicilia owned by the Planeta and Oddo families which produces a Grillo-Sauvignon Blanc white, a rosé, and a red of Nero d’Avola and Syrah, and Castello Solicchiata at Adrano, Mount Etna estate with the world’s largest alberello-trained terraced vineyard, which Planeta assumed management of last year, and produces three Pinot Noirs and three Cabernet Francs.
Beyond wine, Oasi Capparrina extra virgin olive oil, grown organically on the Planeta family estate by the beaches of Menfi, will also be available to sample.
