Bijou secures Waitrose listing for its new rosé
French wine brand Bijou will feature on Waitrose store shelves with its latest Eminence de Bijou expression.
Eminence de Bijou, the latest addition to Bijou Wine’s portfolio, is now available to purchase nationwide in the UK.
Based in the Languedoc region, Bijou has for this rosé wine carefully sourced the best grapes from two parcels of low-yielding vines between the river Orb and the Bassin de Thau in Coteaux de Béziers, just a short distance from the Mediterranean coast.
This proximity to the sea ensures that grapes ripen steadily, benefiting from the cooling maritime influence.
The gentle north-facing slopes and the calcareous clay-limestone soils also help the grapes to preserve their acidity. The result of this careful attention to detail is a regional blend of Grenache, Cinsault, and Rolle.
The Grenache has been partially oaked to provide structure and add a layer of complexity and subtle sweet spice to the wine.
Eminence de Bijou is also geared towards pairing with a range of cuisines and occasions, following the growing worldwide trend for gastronomic rosés.
As db has previously reported, Bijou plans to plans to expand its footprint in the US this year, following success in Canada.
“We’ve seen considerable success in various markets during the past few years,” says Chris Ellis, MD for Crush Wines Ltd, which owns the Bijou brand. “This would not have been possible without the hard work of our passionate and professional team. It’s an exciting time for Bijou following the excellent 2022 vintage.”
