The video, shared by TikTok user dduubb38, showed him holding a can of Guinness, with a mini bottle of Hennessy opened into the top and has since been circulated by Irish press.

In his video, dduubb38 explained: “I never really had Guinness before but I know when you mix it with the Hennessy you get Guinnessy, so I’m going to shotgun this bad boy and hopefully it tastes pretty good.”

He added: “I know it’s dark as hell because I poured one in the glass and followed the instructions on it, like letting them wait and all that, but I figured why not shotgun this. So I got the Guinness and the Hennessy and let’s shotgun this!”

The experiment sees him then take a knife, cutting a hole near the bottom of the Guinness can before drinking its entire contents.

The video has since racked up more than two million views and left people divided as they discuss the serve.

In the comments, one person joked: “Please, my good sir, do not disrespect holy water like that again.” Another added: “Weeps in Irish.” While one person stated: “Meanwhile Ireland is crying.”

Others described the serve as “diabolical”, “sacrilege”, “insane” and as a move that “feels illegal” while others praised the serve and stated: “Ignore these ppl man you’re having some fun no harm in that.”

Commentators took to the comments to show support or disdain while one said: “You’ll be forgiven drinking Guinness from a can with that madness you added to it, get this man an Irish passport!” Others commented: “How did you shotgun Guinness? Horrified as Irish but damn impressed. Fair play man, hats off to you.”

Some wrote about the trend as a way to to welcome more takes on the Irish drink. One concluded: “I’m Irish, I can’t speak for the whole of Ireland but you’ll be very welcome here.”
