Collection of Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot wines to be auctioned in Singapore
Geneva-based auction house Baghera/wines is making its Singapore debut with a 230-bottle collection of Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot wines from two European cellars.
On 23 February, the Baghera/wines monthly online auction concept Wine O’Clock will become the company’s first launch into Singapore.
The selection of wines from Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot ranges from the early 2000s to 2019, and is being offered to the public for the first time.
The Burgundy estate cultivates 1.70 hectares of vines planted in the 1930s, as well as 25-year-old vines in Vosne-Romanée.
Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot also markets wines from the Orveaux plot under the Echezeaux label, while the Treux plot produces wines marketed under the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru label. Two white wines also feature in the form of Bourgogne Blanc and Hautes Côtes de Nuits Blanc, resulting in a total annual production of about 280 bottles, including the rare of Les Réas.
The auction is spread over 87 lots, including 227 bottles and three magnums.
To cater for its Asian clientele, Baghera/wines is organising a tasting on 22 February at Odette Restaurant in Singapore.
For this occasion, collectors sponsoring the sale have chosen six wines to produce a geographical tour of the Burgundy estate’s appellations, starting with an Haute-Côte de Blanc 2012 and ending with the Echézeaux from the 2005 vintage.
The event will end with an exclusive dinner featuring a menu created especially by chef Julien Royer and his team for which just eight places are available.
In other news, while other Burgundy producers have been releasing their 2021s over the last few weeks, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti has just launched its “awesome” and “unique” 2020 vintage following a sampling in London last week.
Attracting around 100 members of the UK wine trade and press, where three bottles of each of the producer’s prized wines were opened for sampling, the first tasting of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s 2020s was conducted on Thursday morning by its exclusive UK agent, Corney & Barrow.
