Jeremy Clarkson to buy pints for Londoners in the same pub as him
The Grand Tour presenter is promising to buy Londoners a pint of his Hawkstone lager if they happen to be in the same pub as him today.
A motoring journalist, farmer and brewer walk into a bar, and the barman says: “Evening, Mr. Clarkson, pint of Hawkstone?”
Clarkson’s marketing for Hawkstone lager has often gone down the, perhaps unsurprising, route of being deliberately controversial, with a particular emphasis on social media content. Among the “banned” adverts he has made include one where he suggested that his product, made from barley grown on his Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire, was “a delicious breakfast beer“.
It is unclear when he will begin his epic crawl today. In true Top Gear style, he will likely be visiting the boozers in the fastest possible time.
His grand tour will take in nine pubs across London (the order with which he will visit them is unknown):
- The Grafton (Kentish Town)
- Sir John Balcombe (Marylebone)
- The Duchess (Bond Street)
- Bonds (Mayfair)
- Clerk & Well (Farringdon)
- The White Haus (Farringdon)
- Marquis of Westminster (Pimlico)
- The Blue Anchor (Hammersmith)
- The Royal Oak (Twickenham)
It remains to be seen how many pints this will cost Clarkson, but, thanks to London’s extensive public transport network he should be able to travel between each pub with relative ease.
While his offer to buy a beer extends to anyone who happens to be in the pub when he is, his Hawkstone brand has also attracted celebrity fans, including his long-term nemesis Piers Morgan.
