Matteo Lunelli wins EY Italian Entrepreneur of the Year award

Matteo Lunelli, managing director of Gruppo Lunelli and chairman and CEO of sparkling wine producer Ferrari Trento, has been named as the national winner of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year award.

The award, which recognises individuals who have made a significant contribution to Italy’s economic, environmental and social growth, is now in its 25th year.

Alongside Ferrari Trento, Gruppo Lunelli’s portfolio includes: Surgiva (mineral water), Tenute Lunelli (still wines), Bisol 1542 (Prosecco Superiore) and Tassoni (citrus soft drinks).

In 2016, Lunelli was President of The International Wine & Spirit Competition in London (IWSC), and the year before he was awarded the EY Award for Entrepreneur of the Year in the Family Business category.

Lunelli was singled out, according to the jury tasked with selecting the winner, “for his commitment to bringing Italian excellence to the world, tackling the growth path of a family-run business rooted in the territory, with courage and constant commitment in the search for quality and attention to detail, making the most of talent, between tradition, innovation and sustainability.”

Lunelli said, “I am honoured to receive this award, which is first and foremost an acknowledgement of the passion, dedication and talent of all the women and men of Gruppo Lunelli. It is the fruit of a 120-year history studded with successes for the company and, for me, 20 years of very intense and demanding work, that is also beautiful and full of satisfaction. I dedicate it to the people who support me every day: to my wife who always stands by me, to my entire family who has always given me great trust, and to our employees who share our passion and values.”

“Our Group wants to be an ambassador of the Italian lifestyle in the world and its success is linked precisely to its loyalty to certain values: the pursuit of excellence in every detail, the strong link with the territory and a business vision that operates in harmony with the environment, and putting people at the centre,” he added.

Earlier this year, Lunelli celebrated Ferrari Trento securing an extension to its deal with Formula 1.
