101-year-old woman credits Tequila to her long life
A 101-year-old woman who hails from Arizona and moved to Mexico when she was 18 has credited Tequila to her long and happy life.
Mary Flip, who now lives in Chandler, Arizona, has lived through the Great Depression, several wars and given birth to six children says Tequila has played a part in her long and happy life, and revealed that she celebrated her most recent birthday with her favourite beer, Guinness.
Mary’s mother and sister died when she was young, and at just 15 years old she was the only surviving member of her family, NBC15 reports.
When she was 18, Mary moved to Mexico where she married, before moving to Chicago when she became pregnant with her first child.
She then became an acclaimed artist recognised by the Chicago School of Art.
“I really like to draw. And I was able to figure out that things change even as you’re drawing them. So, I was able to develop and make them look real. It took time but I had nothing else to do except raise a bunch of kids,” she told NBC15.
She celebrated her 101st birthday last week with her favourite beer, Guinness, and some dancing.
“Oh, I’ll get up on the table,” she told reporters.
