Silent Pool launches vodka in a 94% recyclable cardboard bottle
Green Man Spirits, part of Silent Pool Distillers, has introduced Green Man Wildwood Vodka, showcased in cardboard packaging.
Speaking to the drinks business, Silent Pool Distillers’ operations director Sophie Best said: “Here at Green Man Spirits, we are proud to be boldly paving the way for this new era of sustainable spirits packaging. Whilst the vodka liquid’s unique woody notes of aromas of birch remain at the heart of the product, the 77% less plastic bottle with a carbon footprint 83% lower than a glass bottle, Wildwood Vodka feels like a real milestone in what’s the come next for us as a brand.”
Best explained: “Having our customers’ best interests at the forefront of everything we do, Frugalpac have helped us create an unapologetically eco-conscious packaging that will both shape the industry moving forward, but also align with our consumer base’s values.”
Green Man Wildwood Vodka, which follows the launch of Green Man Wildwood Gin, is a 42% ABV botanical vodka with sweet woody notes. The liquid that has been filtered through charcoal from select hardwood sourced from the distillers’ Albury Estate in Surrey.
Every online purchase of Green Man Vodka made will contribute to the brand’s partnership with Tree Nation which aims to plant trees to fight climate change. Customers can offset their personal CO2 by choosing a tree, plus its planting location, for Silent Pool to plant on their behalf.
The Green Man Vodka brand will also see brand tie-ups with sustainable initiatives such as a return scheme for its bottling as well as working with local producers such as beekeepers and lavender cultivators in order to reduce transportation fuel usage.
Silent Pool Distillers’ marketing director Rhian Billington added: “Genuinely sustainable practice is important to everyone here at Green Man Spirits, and Silent Pool at large. We’re wholly aware that this is just a small step in the right direction, however, it is one we feel we need to make to pave the way for others and position ourselves at the forefront of change within the spirits category”.
Green Man Wildwood Vodka will be available from Silent Pool Distillers’ online shop as well as Amazon retailing at £30 per 70ml bottle.
