Authentic Select Wines showcases French producers

Authentic Select Wines, the cooperative that began as two family domains looking for a way to work together, is giving producers a crucial route-to-market while making wines available across the globe.

The group, which sets out to simplify exportation, with the added benefit of helping bar and restaurant owners find high quality wines all over the world, is “a cooperative between producers,” said Authentic Select Wines export sales manager Céline Gailleton.

Gailleton explained: “We started with two domains which were created for Authentic Select Wines – Moulin Berger and Père Benoit and now we are five domains.” Additionally, domains are all five generations or more and are all HVE 3 certified or are in the process of moving to organic.

Now, Authentic Select Wines has producers across Alsace for Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir; Bourgogne for Mâcon-Chaintré, Pouilly-Fuisse and Bourgogne Blanc; Beaujolais in 3 colors, Saint-Amour, Juliénas, Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Morgon, Moulin à Vent as well as Rhone Valley for Vins de Pays, Cotes de Rhône, Châteauneuf du Pape and Saint Joseph.

At Domaine Du Père Benoit, 90% of the grapes are hand-picked by around 25 grape pickers. As part of its European HVE certification, the cellar is made with equipment which collects and reuses water as well as incorporating an area for collecting washing water from equipment. As such, Père Benoit has increased its farming areas to better optimize space for orders.

The other domain, the “Domaine Louis Dailly” farm, in the north of Beaujolais at Saint-Amour was bought by Cyril and Romain Laplace who grow 25 hectares of vines that their parents and grandparents have previously led before. The vines now grow under his name “Domaine Moulin Berger”.

The Majority of the domain is composed of up to 60% sloped vineyards and uses traditional winemaking methods as well as oak aging.

Culturally, the two families are both looking towards the future and retaining what they are growing to pass the vines onto their children. For this reason,they avoid using too much machinery and intervention and even prefer tilling by hand, with only a few parcels being worked on mechanically.

Authentic Select Wines target enthusiasts and epicureans of all over the world and are continuing to showcase authenticity and a genuine love of wine.

“The cooperative was started on 1 September 2021, so it is one year old,” said Gailleton. She revealed: We may be “small, but we are professional”.

She added: “We will be in London in October, presenting our vision and then in New Zealand and Australia to meet market buyers in November as well as France for Wine Paris next February.”
