First Austrian wine to be sold on La Place de Bordeaux
Austria’s Kracher estate is set to become the first Austrian wine to be sold via La Place de Bordeaux.
The estate in Illmitz, in the heart of Austria’s Burgenland which is famous for its sweet wines, will start to sell it Grande Cuvée 2019 Trockenbeerenauslese on la Place from September, it has confirmed.
“We want to make our wines available through the most prestigious channels of distribution in the world” owner Gerhard Kracher said.
“We want to continue along this road with our whole team. This new distribution system through La Place de Bordeaux is a decisive step for us, so we can spread our wines worldwide.”
This wine is the flagship of the estate and is a blend of Welschriesling and Chardonnay, which reflects the savouriness of the terroir around Neusiedlersee, it said.
The Kracher collection box will comprise seven wines from the 2019 vintage in a wooden case which will be released in a limited edition from October 2022.
