On Wednesday 6 July, Côtes du Rhône Wines’ annual tasting will take place from 11am-6pm in Glaziers Hall, near London Bridge station.
Media and trade in attendance will have the opportunity to taste wines from the Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages and Cru appellations, including Côte-Rôtie, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cairanne, Rasteau and Vinsobres.
At 12pm, there will be a masterclass led by db editor-in-chief Patrick Schmitt MW on the topic of sustainability and climate change in the Rhône Valley vineyards.
Then, at 3pm, Matt Walls will be giving a masterclass on Northern and Southern Crus, posing the question: what does it mean to be a cru in 2022? There will be a focus tasting on three of the oldest Northern Crus: Côte-Rôtie (Cru in 1940), Saint-Joseph (Cru in 1956) and Crozes-Hermitage (Cru in 1937). Then, three of the youngest Southern Crus: Vinsobres (Cru in 2006), Rasteau (Cru in 2010) and Cairanne (Cru in 2016).
