Summer is here, and what better way to celebrate than with an ice cold beer? db has you covered, as we reveal the 10 cities with the highest ratio of breweries to people, making them great destinations for craft beer lovers.
A new study investigating the trendiest cities across the globe has been carried out by voucher website Hey Discount.
Among the factors investigated, including popularity on social media and the number of independent coffee shops, the study revealed the cities with the most breweries, to find out the best places for beer lovers around the world.
Coming in at number 10 is Manchester, a city in the north of England, with 0.2 breweries per 100,000 residents. Manchester, with six major breweries, shares its ranking with Sydney in Australia, which lays claim to 11 breweries and 5.3 million residents.
Lower down the list Prague, with 0.3 breweries per 100,000 people, was beaten out by both Copenhagen and London, both with 0.4 breweries per capita.
London takes the cake for the city with the most breweries in the top 10, with a remarkable total of 41 brew houses.
Next in line, in fifth and fourth place, were Dublin and Chicago respectively, with 0.6 and 0.7 breweries per capita.
Coming in second place were Vancouver and Amsterdam, with 0.8 breweries per 100,000 people. Vancouver is home to a total of 21 breweries, while Amsterdam has 9.
And finally…
Edinburgh is officially the number one city for beer enthusiasts, with 1.1 breweries per 100,000 people, making it the perfect destination for craft beer lovers.
The city hosts several beer festivals throughout the year and is home to numerous taprooms, so you’ll never miss an opportunity to sample some of the most exciting beers from Scotland and beyond.
Edinburgh also leads the way for the most vibrant hospitality, ranking first for vegan restaurant and coffee shops as well as breweries.
