Three limited release single malt whiskies join The Macallan M Collection

The Edrington Group has unveiled The Macallan M Collection, a range of limited release single malt whiskies that celebrate the “Six Pillars”.

The Six Pillars, named so because they underpin the quality and character of The Macallan’s whiskies, are: Natural Colour, Mastery, Curiously Small Spirit Stills, The Estate, Exceptional Oak Casks and Sherry Seasoning. Each of the ‘Pillars’ definining elements that come into play in the creation of each whisky released.

The first three expressions are the 2022 editions of M and M Black and the brand-new M Copper, which pays tribute to the copper stills at the distillery and have been used since it was founded in 1824.

Speaking to the drinks business, Kirsteen Campbell, master whisky maker at The Macallan, said: “The Macallan M Collection gives us the opportunity to clearly and emotively tell the story of The Macallan’s Six Pillars which reflect the heritage, craftsmanship and uncompromised excellence that has distinguished our single malt for almost 200 years.”

Campbell explained: “We are proud to have crafted the first three releases in the collection” and told db that “M showcases The Macallan’s Natural Colour, M Black focuses on our Mastery and M Copper highlights the Distillery’s Curiously Small Spirit Stills which remain key to crafting our precious spirit to this day.”

Campbell also highlighted how the Six Pillars are the brand’s “foundation stones which encompass the strong sense of people, place and passion at the heart of The Macallan”.

Each of the whisky’s decanters have been created in collaboration with creative director, Fabien Baron and French crystal maker Lalique.

The Macallan M 2022 will retail at US$6,750 (£5,000), The Macallan M Black 2022 will retail at US$7,600 (£5,700) and The Macallan M Copper 2022 will retail at US$8,500 (£6,250).

The Macallan M Collection will be available globally in both domestic and travel retail markets including The Macallan Estate, The Macallan Airport Boutiques, selected luxury hotels and bars and premium retailers around the world.

The Edrington Group plans release new editions of The Macallan into the collection in the years ahead.
