Interest soars for Bodega Argento Malbec masterclass
A live tasting event for Argentine producer Bodega Argento, to be held in London next week, is seeing strong interest from members of the trade.
The event, steered by Bodega Argento’s head winemaker Juan Pablo Murgia, and the drinks business’ own Patrick Schmitt MW, will involve a comprehensive tasting of Malbecs from some of the most exciting sub-regions of Argentina.
Promising an exploration of terroir and sub-regionality in the context of premium Malbec production, the unique tasting will also delve into recent developments in Mendoza and Patagonia, and look at how Argentina is creatively tackling the challenges posed by climate change.
From Mendoza’s sub-regions of Alto Agrelo, Altamira and Gualtallary to Chubút in Patagonia, the characteristics of each sub-region will be carefully unpicked, and the speakers will explore the impact of terroir and soil on the producer’s wines.
A special focus on organic and sustainable production will explain how Bodega Argento is trailblazing a path for green winemaking and what lessons other countries might be able to take from its learnings.
The full tasting line-up will include Bodega Argento’s Single Vineyard and Single Block Organic Malbecs, alongside new premium releases such as Argento Estate Reserve and Argento Estate Collection Organic Malbecs.
There will also be an opportunity for attendees to taste the exciting new white organic Fairtrade Malbec in the producer’s Artesano de Argento range; a first for the trade.
The event will take place at the Oasis Farm, Waterloo, at 4pm on Thursday 12 May 2022.
