Drinkers at Bar Louie in Orlando were treated to a taste of Dos Hombres and Cranston, 66, and Paul, 42, came to town. Instead of cooking up the sort of thing their characters of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman were known for, they were signing shirts, pouring shots and shaking up cocktails.

The CEO of the Bar Louie chain, Tom Fricke, was “thrilled” to have the actors visit. “Aaron and Bryan’s mezcal is top-of-the-line in flavour and smoothness, and we can’t wait to feature it on our menu and in the new cocktail.”

The cocktail in question was the Method to the Madness Mule, which combines their mezcal with guava, lime, ginger beer, and a shot of tequila for good measure. Several Instagram stories from the event also appear to show guests drinking Spicy Grapefruits, or just enjoying it neat. Cranston and Paul will be touring around Florida for the remainder of the week.

Dos Hombres was founded by the two actors in 2019. Much of the marketing has centred on the chemistry between the two men, who acted opposite one another from 2007 (when the first season was filmed) to the finale in 2013. The rapturous reception for the visit of the “dos hombres” behind Dos Hombres was more like that for rock stars, and is a testament to the enduring popularity of Breaking Bad (and strong spirits).

Though the series was filmed in New Mexico, Dos Hombres is made in Mexico, from a blend of Espadin agave sourced from the Oaxacan village of San Luis del Rio in Oaxaca. After fermentation it is then distilled in copper stills under the watchful eye of third generation mezcal-maker Gregorio Velasco.

Cranston and Paul’s mezcal reached British shores in 2020. In the US meanwhile, mezcal has exploded, with the volume of the spirit shipped from Mexico to north of the border increasing six-fold in the past six years.
