AB InBev launches Corona Tropical as ‘alternative to beer’

AB InBev has announced the global launch of Corona Tropical, a sparkling fruit juice based RTD, positioned as “an alternative to beer”.

Corona Tropical is currently rolling out across China, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Ecuador and the UK, with additional markets launching later this year, starting with Canada.

In the UK, Corona Tropical will launch as 4.5% ABV and will be available in three flavours – Guava & Lime, Raspberry & Lemon, and Grapefruit & Lemongrass.

However, in the Latin American markets, Corona Tropical will be 4.2% ABV and available in four flavours – Lemon & Lime, Grapefruit & Lime, Pineapple Mango & Lime, and Strawberry Cherry & Lime.

Felipe Ambra, global vice president for Corona said: “Corona is a brand that was born from the tropics and as we encourage consumers to embrace the lifestyle around the world, we’re excited to offer a new Corona beverage to those who love the brand but are looking for options outside of beer.”

Ambra added: “It is our mission to bring paradise to people everywhere and our newest innovation does just that. We created a more flavourful and very approachable alcoholic beverage so that everyone can enjoy the feeling of paradise done the Corona way.”

Corona Tropical, made from fruit concentrate, contains no added sugar and fewer than 100 calories per can.

The company plans to install pickable, real fruit billboards in select cities, starting in London and expanding around the world this month that will allow consumers to pick fruit straight from the adverts.

Additionally, consumers have the chance to win a trip for themselves and a friend to Corona Island by sharing a photo on Instagram or Twitter of them enjoying Corona Tropical, following @corona and including the hashtags #NewCoronaTropical or #NuevaCoronaTropical.
