Thursday Night Fever: John Travolta spotted in Norfolk Wetherspoon’s

Hollywood star John Travolta swapped Tinseltown for the Romany Rye pub in Dereham last Thursday night.

Travolta, 68, is best known for motion pictures such as Grease and Austin Powers in Goldmember, and is currently filming a short film in Norfolk. Clearly Los Angeles living, with its emphasis on detoxing and wellness, isn’t cutting the mustard, as Travolta’s evening visit to Spoons coincided with Curry Club night.

However, a witness, Jamie Salter, saw signs of detritus from what he suspected to be burgers and a pizza, suggesting that he missed out on the included pilau, plain naan and poppadoms. Whether he partook in a Blue Lagoon pitcher or maybe just a pint can only be speculated.

Salter told the Eastern Daily Press that the A-lister was pointed out by “a couple of staff members”, and that he approach the table and asked Travolta “is it John?” After a brief chat and a photo, Salter left Travolta and the others on his table (presumably bodyguards) to enjoy the rest of their evening at the 4.1 star Google rated pub/hotel.

A somewhat less eventful dining experience than that of his dinner/dance with Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction, and without an epipen in sight. Indeed, it was certainly less eventful than the previous week’s Academy Awards, when Travolta presented Will Smith with the Best Actor statuette.

The actor continued his East Anglian adventure a few days later when he popped into Morrisons at Fakenham and chatted with staff and customers.

But even with Travolta’s patronage, Wetherspoon’s have got bills, they’re multiplying as the worsening cost of living crisis forces them to raise the price of their pints.
