This is the most popular spirit brand on the internet
The most popular spirit brands on the internet have been revealed by a new study, and an emerging vodka brand has swooped straight into the top five…
Analysis from mixer brand Fentiman’s has revealed the most popular spirits brands on the internet for 2021, with data ranging from volume of searches to social media stats being taken into account.
The study looked at 121 brands, each of which was given an aggregate score based on their performance across nine different categories, in a bid to establish the most-searched and most popular spirits brands on the internet.
LVMH-owned Hennessy Cognac came out on top in an intriguing top five, with an overall score of 53.02. The brand’s considerable following, not least on Instagram where it boasts over 715,000 followers, was a key factor in its first place position.
In second place sits Au Vodka, the brand that uses viral social media tactics – such as recently giving away a gold Lamborghini – to stoke its reputation online. With a total score of 45.79, Au Vodka was not far behind Hennessy Cognac, thanks to a strong Twitter mentions presence.
Rounding out the top five were Captain Morgan, Smirnoff vodka and Ciroc vodka, all owned by Diageo.
The study did note that Hennessy’s ever-presence in rap lyrics may have padded its stats somewhat – though one could argue that in itself is a testament to the brand’s success.
“Although Hennessy Cognac takes first place, its popularity is potentially due to its significant mentions within rap songs, especially from a musician as famous as Drake,” the report noted.
And highlighting the strong performance of vodka across the study, the report added “it’s interesting to see vodka so well represented in the top five, with three vodka brands ranking. Whatever your favourite spirit, these are the brands which are living it large on social media as the most popular out there.”
Meanwhile, here are the 10 most popular beers in the world for 2021.
