The Aubrey welcomes Tell Camellia for HK Easter pop-up event
Veteran mixologist Gagan Gurung will showcase his signature drinks at The Aubrey at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong during a three-day pop-up.
Before the social distancing regulations are expected to lift on 20 April when bars can finally reopen, Gagan Gurung is bringing his Tell Camellia experience to The Aubrey at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong from 14-16 April (3-6pm).
Originally from Nepal, Gagan started his career as a chef before earning a reputation as an award-winning mixologist. Gurung is best known for his creative cocktail concoctions and presentations and his infamous bar Tell Camellia is one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars. This tea-driven bar bases its drinks around camellia sinensis, a tea plant that is a blend of contemporary style and timeless sophistication.
During the event, Gagan will present three experimental cocktails based on Japanese shochu and tea, including Roast & Toast, mixed with sencha, miyoga & carrot, oyster distillate, wasabi salt and Torikai Kome Shochu; Matcha Mate, a concoction of matcha, miso, Kyoto grape, plankton, Yasuda Sweet Potato; and Hachi Old Fashioned; a twist of the classic cocktail with genmaicha, seaweed, bee pollen and Hachi Mugi Shochu.
Japanese sochu lovers may also like to consider a Shochu Flight, which offers them a taste of three different style sochus.
