Screw cap wine hack goes viral on TikTok
One TikTok user has stunned the internet with his ingenious method for consuming wine on the go.
@mattdalrymple8 drinking from a wine n*pole is the only way to do it 🤷🏼♂️ (i’m 23 btw tik tok) #wine #WomenOwnedBusiness #OscarsAtHome #nj #jazzy ♬ original sound – Matthew Dalrymple
Using a Barefoot Riesling for demonstration purposes, Dalrymple removes the screw cap and replaces it with a Smart Water bottle cap. Though he refers to the cap as a “wine nipole” in the description of the TikTok he made, the technical term is a freed cap.
He describes the sensation of drinking wine from the newly-capped bottle as making him “feel like an athlete.” He goes further and states that “quite frankly, it’s the best way to consume it.” Although it’s unclear whether Dalrymple has a background in winemaking or hospitality, it might be suggested that the aeration the wine undergoes when drunk through the nozzle of the new cap could well bring out the best in the wine he used.
Usually retailing for under $5 USD, the 8% ABV Barefoot Riesling is described by VinoVest as having “slightly sweet notes [which] are mingled with tropical fruit flavours of passionfruit curd, tangerine, mandarin orange, and luscious peach.”
The clip has already gained momentum on TikTok with more than half a million likes. It was similarly well received when shared to the Instagram page @todayyearsold (9.6 million followers). That video, captioned “he is living in 2055”, attracted numerous comments noting the gravity of his genius, including:
Although Dalrymple suggests that this hack means the “bottle [is] easily done in one shot”, please do drink responsibly, especially when experimenting with water bottle caps.
