Help hospitality by supporting Bike to Care en Bourgogne

Hospitality has always been key to the healthy functioning of a diverse wine business, but the sector’s been decimated by Covid-related restrictions, but there’s a way to help it recover – and it’s been dubbed Bike to Care.

In fact, it’s full name is Bike to Care en Bourgogne, due to its location in the beautiful surroundings of Burgundy, and it’s been organised to raise funds for those in the restaurant sector who have been most severely affected by the lockdowns during the pandemic.

Featuring as many as one hundred riders, on 9-10 May this year, chefs and sommeliers, wine producers and trade figures will assemble in Beaune before pedalling more than 200km over two consecutive days across the hills of the Côtes de Beaune and the Côtes de Nuits.

It’s not going to be an easy ride – the ascents here rise to over 500m – and the fundraising targets are ambitious – each set of eight cyclists is aiming to raise a minimum of £16,000.

With 12 teams in total it’s hoped that the ordeal will bring in close to £200,000 for the struggling hospitality sector and its passionate employees.

So how can you help?

Please donate – it doesn’t matter how small your contribution, it would be great to have the trade’s support, with the monies going to Hospitality Action UK.

As I’m taking part, joining the team from Burgundy’s Maison Louis Jadot and its UK agent Hatch Mansfield, it would be great to have any funds directed towards this Just Giving page here, which has been set up for the UK team.
