Harrods launches first own label Californian Cabernet Sauvignon

Priced at £25 a bottle, Harrods Californian Cabernet Sauvignon will be on sale in May.

The Cabernet Sauvignon will join a selection of Daou wines currently on sale at Harrods. Daou Pessimist 2018 is also priced at £25. Daou rosé 2021 – the only New World rosé wine listed by Harrods – is priced at £30. Daou Soul of a Lion 2017 and Daou Patrimony 2016, also available at Harrods, are priced at £168 and £310 respectively.

Siobhan Irons, Harrods’ wine buyer, noted that the new listing will help to “showcase the regionality of California”.

She said: “There’s nothing quite like being there from the start when you feel like you’ve discovered the next wine icon. We’ve been working with Daou Family Estates in Paso Robles for two and half years and they’re increasingly recognised by the critics as producing some of the state’s best Cabernet Sauvignon.”

Family-owned and operated, Daou Family Estates was founded by brothers Georges and Daniel Daou in 2007 to develop the potential of Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties in the region. The winery is situated on a 212-acre hilltop estate in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles.

Neb Lukic, President at Daou Family Estates, said of the new listing: “It is an honour for Daou Family Estates to have been chosen as the supplier of Harrods own label Californian Cabernet Sauvignon and an amazing endorsement of the quality of our wines. I cannot wait to see this new wine on Harrods shelves.”
