Jon Wyand has won the Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year award for 2022 for his shot, titled Gathering prunings on Corton Hill, which was taken on a dazzling winter’s morning on the Hill of Corton in Burgundy.

The Errazuriz wine photographer of the year is divided into three subcategories; People, Places and Produce. Wyand’s shot first scooped the People prize before being announced the overall winner.

“The winning image evokes with stark beauty the reality of wine growing – you are always at the mercy of nature,” commented Joanna Simon, one of the Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year category judges. “But there’s an extra element here: is he scrutinising the weather? Or might he now be just a little lost in thought…?”

On the overall class of 2022 images, Simon added, “When travel has been so curtailed, the ingenuity and, in many cases, the joie de vivre shown by the photographers has been inspiring.”

The winners were announced by acclaimed chef and Masterchef: The Professionals co-host Monica Galetti. Famed food photographer David Loftus chaired the judging panel.

Here is the winner of the ‘Places’ category, Marina Spironetti with her shot entitled Architecture and Wine, taken at Antinori winery.
