Aviation American Gin set to soar with BA

Ryan Reynolds’ gin brand, Aviation American Gin has signed a new partnership with British Airways in a move that will see the gin served on board all of the airline’s transatlantic and long-haul flights.

The partnership has been launched with a spoof safety video starring the Hollywood actor, who, as the spot points out, “starred as a pilot in two films”. The tongue-in-cheek clip includes, among other things,  a giant inflatable bottle to use as a flotation aid, before Reynolds concludes that it might not be the best advice. The video can be viewed on the brand’s social channels.

The launch follows the opening of the Aviation Gin bar in the airline’s Club Lounge at JFK airport last October. The airline’s short-haul customers can also buy the gin from the on-board Speedbird café. It comes as British Airways launches a route to Portland, Oregon on 3 June – where Aviation American Gin was founded in 2006 – which the airline says will open up a new host of connections to the West Coast.

Gareth Williams, international brand director at Aviation American Gin, said the marque offered an American twist on the quintessentially British drink.

The gin’s botanicals include cardamom, coriander, French lavender, anise seed, sarsaparilla, juniper, and two kinds of orange peel, which the brand says creates “a smoother, softer, more refined take on gin that is a metaphor for taste and adventure”.
