Vault City Brewing launches luminous green sour beer for St Patrick’s Day
Vault City Brewing has released a sweet “Apple Soor” beer which is luminous green in colour, just in time for St Patrick’s Day.
The Portobello-based brewery in Edinburgh, known for its experimental beers, has launched the beer as a session sour and has based its flavour profile on the popular RTD Apple Sourz.
The first 250 web orders will reportedly receive a free shot glass with their order, while the on-trade has already started to place orders to gain extra interest over St Patrick’s Day with over 50 already stocking the green beer.
The beer will reportedly be available from Innis and Gunn in Edinburgh; Shilling Brewery in Glasgow; and Craft Metropolis in London.
Vault City co-founder Steven Smith-Hay told local press: “The sour sensation is perfect for nights that go on a little too long. We’ve been overwhelmed by the pick-up from bars and nightclubs, and we are proud to be a part of people’s St Patrick’s Day plans.”
Smith-Hay admitted: “We’re fruit fanatics at Vault City, and we’ve made beers showcasing just about every colour in the rainbow. It’s great to have green ticked off the list, and we hope people will think of Ireland, St Patrick’s Day and memories of their favourite nights out when they see it and drink it.”
The Apple Soor, which is described as a modern sour beer style, will be available in 440ml cans and weighs in at an easy-drinking 4.7% ABV. The beer can be bought directly from the brewery webshop for £4 per can and is “reminiscent of lost youth, nightclubs and shots, shots, shots”.
