Quentin Tarantino applies for booze permit for his retro movie theatre
Quentin Tarantino has filed an application to open a wine and beer serving cafe and arcade within the historic Vista Theatre in Los Feliz.
The Once Upon A Time In Hollywood filmmaker and direct
Tarantino, who also purchased the New Beverly Cinema in 2007, likes showcasing a bill of classic films alongside a programme of his own films – often on 35mm (or 16mm) film.
According to reports, a ‘conditional use’ permit was filed by Tarantino on 8 March and shows some of the changes he has planned for Vista, including the sale of alcohol along with a cafe and arcade.
According to the terms of the permit, Tarantino has asked for “conditional uses to allow the sale and dispensing of beer and wine for on-site consumption with an existing 12,340 square foot theatre, cafe, and arcade with 370 seats and 12 arcade games”.
The Vista originally opened in 1923 and is approaching its 100-year anniversary, but Tarantino is yet to announce an opening date for the retro movie theatre site and, as yet, has not revealed which beers and wines are due to be listed or whether it will be dispensed from Salma Hayek’s foot.
