First Barolo to be released on La Place de Bordeaux

A wine from one of the most prestigious vineyards in Piedmont will become the first Barolo cru to be sold by la place de Bordeaux.

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio 2018 will be released and distributed via Bordeaux’s historic network of distributors from March, it was announced today.

According to Chiarlo, the wine will be available for global distribution through eight of Bordeaux’s négociants (excluding the US, Italy, Canada and South Korea) , with the aid of Timothée Moreau of Bureau des Grands Vins. The négociants are teaming up with the  Calamandrana-based winery to ensure a wider reach for the iconic and Barolo cru.

Michele Chiarlo’s winemaker Alberto Chiarlo said he was proud to announce the partnership and to see the Barolo Cerequio sitting alongside the most famous labels in the world.

He added that although Cerequio was already in 50 countries worldwide, through La Place de Bordeaux, the team want to bring the global distribution of Cerequio “to a new level”.

“Now is the time to seek the still more global and more fine-grained distribution that only la Place can offer us,” he said. “This achievement has been made possible thanks to our family’s constant commitment to the pursuit of quality and the desire to see our wines distributed globally in a manner fully consistent with our philosophy: cultivating, vinifying and bringing to a worldwide market the fruit of the greatest terroirs of Piemonte.”

Chiarlo added that the move was part of a wider mission to see Cerequio recognised globally, which has included the establishment of the Palás Cerequio in the Langhe, a resort that is dedicated to Barolo.
