Campari Group debuts the Grand Marnier Exceptional Cuvées Range

Campari Group has announced the debut of its Grand Marnier Exceptional Range, a limited edition line made to an ancient recipe from the maison’s archives.

The ultra premium line showcases the rarest and oldest hors d’âge Cognacs, each exclusively selected from Grande Champagne and aged in Paradis, the personal reserves of the Marnier Lapostolle family cellar.

The range begins with the launch of one of two rare Grand Cuvées, named Quintessence, which pays homage to the liqueur’s history. Quintessence offers the highest expression of Grand Marnier encased in a bespoke Baccarat Decanter

Grand Marnier master blender Patrick Raguenaud discovered an old recipe in the maison’s archives detailing the Bigaradia orange being macerated in Cognac. He then used this recipe to create Quintessence.

According to the group, “Quintessence is a tribute to the origins of Grand Marnier” and has been described as “a masterpiece elevating the assemblage of Cognac and bigaradia orange to its ultimate expression”.

“Raguenaud then added the finest Bigaradia orange peels, double-distilled to ensure an intensity of flavours, drawing upon instincts honed from his nearly two decades at
the house,” Campari revealed, hinting that “this painstaking double-distillation and careful work yields a rich, smooth vintage liquid, with dry fruit facets of apricot and walnut, underlined by a warm dark vanilla base”.

Made by Baccarat, each decanter is unique and mouth-blown at 1450 degrees. Each features a never-ending twist that descends into the Cognac itself and the decanter is sealed with a hand-made stopper.

Raguenaud said: “It’s a rare experience to drink this, even to imagine this kind of Cognac is rare. The sensation, the feeling, the perception of what you smell, it is unforgettable. When you blend for Quintessence, you blend a heritage.”

The exclusive collection will be limited to 1,000 bottles being available worldwide in the first year and will only be housed in fine retailers across selective markets throughout 2022.
