What to do on Burns Night 2022

For those of you who don’t know what to do on Burns Night, we have made a short list of places offering up celebrations (and a dram or two).

Although Burns Night traditionally falls on the 25 January, plenty of places are celebrating throughout the week. Whether you are staying in or going out, consider toasting Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns and turn the end of the month into a fun get-together with friends. We’ll raise a quaich to that.

WHAT: The Wayne Family Burns Night Supper
WHEN: Tuesday 25 January
WHERE: Park Row, 77 Brewer St, London W1F 9ZN
WHY: It’s the UK’s first DC-inspired restaurant, located in London’s Soho and it’s linking arms with single malt Scotch whisky Glenfiddich for an evening of festivities. The experience will kick off with a bespoke menu of Glenfiddich cocktails and diners can expect all the traditional trappings, including the piping of the haggis, a ceilidh band, dancing and more.
HOW MUCH: The special set menu will be £55 per person with a welcome cocktail, canapés and optional paired whiskies and can be bought via OpenTable or via the Park Row website.

WHAT: Burns Night Bash in partnership with Monkey Shoulder.
WHEN: Saturday 29 January 6pm-11pm
WHERE: Skylight Tobacco Dock, Wapping.
WHY: A Burns Night party that will feature special guest DJs and party favours all night long while Monkey Shoulder is set to bring its own unique twist on an “alternative Scottish celebration”. Guests will receive a free Monkey Shoulder cocktail on arrival followed by whisky tasting sessions, Scottish Dancing and will be able to take advantage of special Monkey Shoulder drink prices all night long.
HOW MUCH: From £4 for early bird non-cocktail tickets up to £200 for a heated igloo for 10 people based on availability via DesignMyNight.

WHAT: Burns Night Extravaganza in association with Ardbeg Single Malt Whisky
WHERE: Bourne & Hollingsworth.
WHEN: Tuesday 25 January 2022.
WHY: A sophisticated night of whisky cocktails, Burns Night banqueting and ceilidh dancing.
Laddies and Lassies are invited to don their finest tartan attire and enter the stunning cocktail bar for a welcome whisky cocktail reception complete with the traditional Burns Night piper, followed by a five-course supper with each course paired with a delicious dram or delectable cocktail. Whisky tasting begins at 6.30-7.30pm followed by a five course dinner from 7.30pm.
HOW MUCH: Whisky Tasting: £30 per person – includes an arrival cocktail, a tasting of four whiskies and a light hearted whisky history; Burns Night Banquet: £60 per person – includes a welcome cocktail reception, five course dinner and all entertainment; Burns Night Banquet: £90 per person – includes a welcome cocktail reception, a five-course banquet with each course paired with a dram and cocktail and all entertainment; Private Burns Night Banquet for up to 12 guests: £100 per person – the Private Burns Night Banquet experience includes the welcome cocktail reception, a five-course banquet in its Private Dining Room with each course paired and private performances and all entertainment. WHAT: Ballintaggart Burns Night supper.
WHERE: Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery.
WHEN: Friday 21st January
WHY: The evening will include a four course tasting menu including Aberfeldy 12 glazed carrots, fresh mussels, truffle artichokes and a Yorkshire rhubarb dessert. A Burns speaker will be doing readings and whisky cocktails will be available throughout.

WHAT: Benriach cookalong and activity for Burns night with Macsween haggis
and Waitrose.
WHERE: In the comfort of your own home.
WHEN: 7.30pm-8.30pm, Tuesday 25 January
WHY: Creative Speyside Distillery, Benriach, is teaming up with Macsween of Edinburgh, the UK’s most loved haggis brand, to bring a live virtual tasting and whisky masterclass to Waitrose & Partners customers. Hosted by Rachel Barrie, master blender at Benriach, and James Macsween, managing director of Macsween of Edinburgh, the two iconic Scottish brands will discuss the winning combination of whisky and haggis and how these two key components are vital to any Burns Supper as part of a free event broadcast live from the Waitrose & Partners event platform.

WHAT: Burns Night Menu
WHERE: Across all Firmdale Hotels including: Ham Yard Bar & Restaurant, Brumus Bar & Restaurant at Haymarket Hotel, Oscar Bar & Restaurant at Charlotte Street Hotel, Brasserie Max at Covent Garden Hotel and The Potting Shed at Dorset Square Hotel
WHEN: Tuesday 25 January
WHY: Guests will begin the evening with a seasonal ‘Cullen Skink’ made with smoked haddock, potatoes and leeks before a traditional or vegetarian ‘Haggis, Neeps and Tatties’ served with a warming dram of whisky. For dessert, they will enjoy a ‘Poached Rhubarb Cranachan’ with layers of rhubarb, yoghurt, oats and honey. Guests are welcome to continue their whisky voyage with a bespoke Scottish themed cocktail that is individual to each restaurant.
HOW MUCH: £50 per person including three course menu and a dram of whisky to be served with the main course. Book via Firmdale Hotels.

WHAT: Burns Night Whisky Tasting Kit.
WHERE: The comfort of your home.
WHEN: This month, while stocks last.
WHY: If you’re a whisky lover, but can’t go out, then you can still take part in a virtual tasting session with Bacardi’s Advocacy Host, Craig Reed, where he will take you through a private tasting of three popular whiskies and learn how to pair these with traditional Burn Night dishes.
