Bella Hadid speaks out about why she quit drinking
Supermodel Bella Hadid, who recently launched a non-alcoholic beverage brand Kin Euphorics, has revealed why she has decided to abstain from alcohol after worrying she couldn’t “control” her drinking.
In a recent interview with InStyle the model and influencer revealed her choice to quit drinking six months ago as a result of her anxiety being exacerbated by alcohol.
The model became co-founder and partner of Kin Euphorics after trying a can of the beverage in 2019. It is a non-alcoholic beverage with adaptogenic herbs, nootropics, and botanicals. But her reasons for cutting out drinking go beyond the new product, she claims.
“I have done my fair share of drinking. I loved alcohol and it got to the point where even I started to, you know, cancel nights out that I felt like I wouldn’t be able to control myself,” she explained.
“I don’t feel the need [to drink anymore] because I know how it will affect me at 3 in the morning when I wake up with horrible anxiety thinking about that one thing I said five years ago when I graduated high school,” the model added.
She noted that one of Kin’s medical advisors also showed her the effects of alcohol on her brain, resulting it in becoming “a lot harder to pick up the glass”.
Hadid co-founded the “functional beverage” brand with Kin CEO Jen Batchelor, who first launched it in 2018 as an alternative to sugar-packed mocktails that didn’t offer any wellness benefits.
Bella Hadid is not the only celebrity getting into the no- and low-alcohol game. Katy Perry recently announced the launch of her own line of alcohol-free aperitifs, leaning in to the no-and lo drinks craze that tends to surge during the early months of the year.
“Just in time for SOBERUARY! Excited to announce a line of sparkling nonalcoholic aperitifs I’ve created w/ my fellow new mama/ botany babe Morgan McLachlan,” Perry wrote in a tweet. Read more on the De Soi launch here.
