Milano Wine Week Hong Kong wrapped up in success

Milano Wine Week 2021, held in a hybrid format with both digital and physical events, rounded up in great success.

The fourth edition of Milano Wine Week returned in October with an innovative hybrid experience showcasing the best wines from each Italian region. Nine days of events across the city of Milan saw tastings hosted both online on the MWW digital platform and in 11 global venues.

In Hong Kong, six masterclasses were broadcast live from Milan, together with DB Asia at Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel observing the current hygiene regulations for health and safety. The masterclasses welcomed around 100 industry professionals and offered seamless translation from Italian to English.

The tastings featured in-depth analysis on Italy’s different winegrowing regions, including Brunello di Montalcino, Prosecco DOC and Chianti, as well as its native grape varietals. The speakers guided participants through a thorough exploration of topics spanning Italy’s wine history, science, terroir and retail. Each session was finished by a tasting of wines from the region. Following on from this, wine professionals had the opportunity to talk with wineries and to schedule one-to-one meetings through the dedicated “Digital Wine Week” platform.

This year, Milano Wine Week also launched an innovative “W” app to helps guests to enjoy the events. One of the most special features of the app was its archive of digital wine lists from all of Milan’s best restaurants, making Milan the first city in the world in which one can choose where eat based on the wine one wishes to drink.
