db recommends: Sud De France ‘Real Tasting, Real People’
The region of Occitanie is organising a trade tasting with 12 producers flying into London on Tuesday 9 November at Dartmouth House, Mayfair.
During the event Matthew Stubbs MW will host two masterclasses which are free to attend. Matthew is a leading expert on this region and author of the Sud de France Master Level programme on wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon. He set up his own wine school near Carcassonne and now runs courses and seminars worldwide.
A timetable of events can be seen below:
12noon: Occitanie Outside the Box. The Occitanie region includes 75 wine appellations. The likes of Minervois or Corbières are well recognised by both the UK trade and consumers however there are many less discovered appellations with stunning wines that deserve a closer look. During this masterclass, Matthew will take you on a journey exploring the up and coming appellations of the region.
2:30pm: Local Grapes, Distinctive Taste. Nearly 100 grape varieties are authorised for the production of wines in the Occitanie region. In this masterclass Matthew will focus on the indigenous grape varieties that make distinctive and authentic wines.
