Waitrose brings out at-home cocktail kit
Fancy a Gimlet in bed? An Espresso Martini on the sofa? Supermarket brand Waitrose has launched a tasting box packed with all the necessary elements to enjoy a cocktail at home.
Kitted out with three glasses, a shaker and a strainer, Waitrose’s cocktail making box has everything needed to make three classic cocktails: an Espresso Martini, a Fresh Gimlet using Plymouth Gin and an Amalfy Sunset Spritz with Malfy Gin Rosa.
Garnishes include coffee beans as well as dehydrated strawberries and oranges, and the cocktail kit retails at £35 per box.
There is even a drinks expert on hand ready to share their knowledge both in person and virtually. Suitable for six people or more, masterclasses are available via Zoom or at an in-person event at the customer’s venue of choice.
Shaken or stirred? Guests will learn the perfect way to serve a range of cocktails and gain knowledge in the perfect cocktail ratios.
Andrew Riding, Waitrose drinks experience manager, said of the launch: ‘We’ve adapted our wine and cocktail services over the last 18 months to include virtual services, which have proved incredibly popular. Now we’re able to host in people’s homes again, this new cocktail box is the perfect option for those looking to learn more about mixology, either in person or online.’’
Launch of the cocktail kit follows on from the supermarket’s in-house tasting programme and cocktail gift boxes, combining both elements for a new customer experience.
The new launch comes as part of the Waitrose Wine Tasting At Home service. Customers meet virtually with a WSET qualified specialist to learn more about how to taste and pair wines of their choice.
