The week in pictures

This week in the world of drinks: db’s Douglas Blyde meets Frank Kämmer MS, the global ambassador for premium brandy producer, Chateau Koya, rapper Kano launches a 100% Jamaican rum with Duppy Share, and we visit Camden Town Brewery’s Tank Party.

Pictured with db’s Douglas Blyde is Frank Kämmer MS, the global ambassador for premium brandy producer, Chateau Koya of Shandong, China – a peninsula also home to Lafite’s Long Dai and the Tsingtao Brewery. The VSOP six-year-old and XO 10-year-old renditions are crafted by lady master distiller, Zhang Baochun from Ugni Blanc grapes sown in sandy loam distilled in Charentais pot stills then matured in Limousin oak. Bibendum’s ‘This One’s On Us’ event provided attendees the first taste of these amber spirits on UK soil this week. Koya will be available from the end of September, debuting at Ivy Asia.

Musician Kano and Duppy Share have collaborated on the brand’s first 100% Jamaican white rum, Duppy White. The label is inspired by a 7-inch vinyl, depicting scenes integral to Kano’s life.

Duppy Share’s founder George Frost said of the launch, “Making a rum is all about creating a great tasting liquid and standing out from the crowd. Working with Kano felt like a natural and authentic fit for The Duppy Share and his genuine enthusiasm for the brand made it really exciting to create something from scratch together.”

We visited Camden Town Brewery for their annual Tank Party, held on the site of the brewery to celebrate fresh unfiltered beer poured straight from the tanks. With plenty of beer and delicious food on hand, alongside music and events throughout the day, it was a Saturday to remember.

Pictured at China Tang, Mayfair is fifteenth generation Austrian winemaker, Lenz Moser who presented to us the newly released New Chapter, an uncompromising Grüner Veltliner made in collaboration with his friend, Markus Huber. The wine is intended, says Moser, to “enhance this Austrian treasure in order to make it even more delicate for the international wine lover.”
