Moët & Chandon is official new partner for Skate at Somerset House

The Champagne house will provide the liquid refreshment for Londoners lapping the ice rink when Skate returns to Somerset House this winter.

Having missed last year due to the pandemic, the popular ice-skating event will be back bigger and better for 2021, with Moët & Chandon bringing a luxurious feel to festivities.

A 40ft Christmas tree, with specially curated decorations from Moët & Chandon will welcome visitors and no doubt fuel Instagram feeds. A chic Skate Lounge hosted by the Champagne house will also offer an elegant range of Champagnes and sparkling cocktails to enjoy while soaking up views of the rink in style.

Opening on 17 November and running until 16 January, 2022, the event staged in the property’s neo-classical courtyard, is a firm fixture on London’s festive calendar.

Furthermore, the Moët & Chandon partnership flies in the face of rumours of a Champagne shortage this Christmas, with the fizz expected to be free-flowing at the seasonal event. Moët & Chandon have been contacted for comment.

Guests to the ice rink will be also be able to visit Chalet Barragiste – a new Alpine-themed pop-up from Jimmy Garcia, housed in Somerset House’s West Wing, with game burgers, fondue and buttered rum on the menu. Bespoke sharing packages including smoked salmon and Moët & Chandon will also be up for grabs. Plus, decadent hot chocolate from Hotel Chocolat’s ‘Chocmobile’ will be on tap to warm cold hands.

The 2021 skate season will also see the introduction of Chilled Out skate sessions on weekday mornings, which will run at a reduced capacity, geared towards those looking to take their first steps on the ice. An occasion for which Champagne is surely needed.
