Bathe in Champagne and 24K gold at this five star hotel

We all deserve a bit of pampering after the last 18 months, but this is a whole new level of luxury. The first of its kind in the UK, this spa break will see guests soak in a bath of Champagne and gold, putting the bubbles in bubble bath.

Gift experience provider Red Letter Days has teamed up with five star boutique hotel, The Dial House, tucked away in the Norfolk countryside.

As part of the ‘Champagne and 24K Gold Pamper Experience’, guests will receive a gold-leaf facial from an experienced beauty therapist. The treatment includes gold leaf application, a full hand and head massage, a double cleanse and exfoliation with Temple Spa products, and a gold face mask.

An evening meal included in the package will be served in The Dial House’s AA Rosette restaurant, before the main event – the Champagne and gold bathing experience.

The pièce de résistance takes place in a candlelit setting, with a roll-top bath brimming with Champagne-infused waters and 24-karat gold-leaf bubbles. A bottle of Champagne (to sip on, not swim in) and some chocolate and gold covered strawberries will be served alongside.

So why Champagne and gold? Is it just for added sparkle?

According to Dr Mike Tee of the Harley Street Skin Clinic, Champagne contains vital anti-ageing properties.

He said: “A great benefit of Champagne is the antioxidants found in the grape seed extract it contains. These antioxidants are many times more powerful than vitamin C and vitamin E; grape seed extract safeguards the skin’s vital collagen and elastin from environmental free radicals.”

“As well as the antioxidants in Champagne, cellular activators such as organic acids, minerals and vitamins are said to help slow down the ageing process and repair the skin, too.”

Lesley Reynolds, founder of the Harley Street Skin Clinic, further explained some of the benefits of using gold in skincare.

She said: “There is certainly evidence to suggest that gold may have anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant effects. The metal can help reduce inflammation which causes hyper-pigmentation and acne, reduce skin redness and protect against free radicals that lead to wrinkles and sun damage.”

Launching today (17 September), the luxury £600 package includes:

  • A luxury overnight stay for two in The Italian Palace suite at The Dial House

  • In-room candlelit Champagne and gold-filled spa bathtub experience for two

  • Enjoy a bottle of Champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries with gold leaf in the room

  • Indulge in a replenishing 24K gold leaf facial for two

  • Dinner at the two AA Rosette-awarded restaurant

  • Tuck into breakfast in bed, served on a golden tray the following morning

A fan of anything bubbly? Did you know you can now buy sparkling rosé sold in a penis-shaped bottle. That will certainly break the ice at Christmas with the in-laws…
