The week in pictures

This week in the world of drinks: Lindeman’s Wine celebrates carbon neutral status by commissioning a carbon-absorbing mural in London, Camden Town Brewery embarks on a nationwide tour for its ‘Tank Party’, and a new English fizz is launched, made using the Charmat method.

A new mural that has popped up in London celebrates Lindeman’s Wine European product range achieving carbon neutral certification from the Carbon Neutral Trust. A second mural will pop up in Bristol; made using carbon-absorbing paint, they are anticipated to absorb an incredible 1.3kg of CO2from the atmosphere.

Camden Town Brewery has announced that its Tank Party is embarking on its first ever nationwide tour of the UK. Pouring beer directly from the tanks, Camden will be bringing 6 x 10HL tanks (upwards of 10,000 pints) of its fresh Unfiltered Hells to London, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Bristol.

Camden’s Tank Party tour will serve up local street food, beer tastings and family-friendly events for all to enjoy.

A brand new wine from West Sussex is made by House Coren using the Charmat method, one of only a couple in the UK to do so. The English sparkling wine is intended to showcase the bright, fruity freshness found in English grapes and is a blend of 42% Reichenstiener, 29% Chardonnay, 29% Pinot Noir.

William Coren, Managing Director of House Coren, said: “We love that English wine has become increasingly popular over the past few years, but we wanted to create an offering that was slightly more innovative and accessible without detracting from the traditional method. The Charmat method allowed us to do that.

“Boco creates a whole different segment in the English wine market that we feel there is demand for. A different price dynamic, easier drinking and brighter packaging will all in turn appeal to a much wider demographic.

“We are delighted to debut our very first wine, which will be one of many in our future portfolio.”
