Monkey raids off license and drinks bottle of booze in front of shop’s owner

A brazen monkey has become an unlikely social media sensation after raiding an off license and guzzling from a bottle of booze right in front of the shop’s hapless owner.

The masque monkey has become a hit among social media users after its antics in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh in India.

It brazenly broke into an off license in broad daylight and carefully nibbled around the edge of a bottle of booze to remove the cap. As a watching crowd cheered it on, the monkey began to drink from the bottle while the owner of the shop watched on, presumably utterly bemused.

At some point during proceedings, the owner of the store tried to tempt the monkey away with a biscuit, but the clever Simian was having none of it, electing instead to continue drinking its booze.

But this isn’t the only case of an animal drinking booze of late.

Tipsy buffaloes blew the cover of an illegal liquor stash in India, after getting drunk from water held in a trough that also hid bottles of moonshine.

“They probably drank the water laced with liquor from the damaged liquor bottles,” the police told The Times of India, adding that the buffaloes have since recovered from their drunken ordeal, having suffered little more than a hangover.
