Flight attendant reveals the best way to get free drinks on a plane
Next time you board, a few subtle changes could be the best way to get free drinks on a plane – according to insider knowledge from a flight attendant.
A flight attendant has revealed that the way you dress may well have a bearing on your ability to get free drinks on your next journey – in an anonymous interview with The Points Guy.
While the attendant said that the old adage that dressing smartly was a good way of getting an upgrade to first or business class is something of a myth, it might help you secure some extra perks in economy.
“Presentation matters. Now I’m not saying you’ll get into Mint or a premium cabin on another airline simply for how you’re dressed. That’s a myth.” They said.
“However, you can control how you’re perceived and how you present yourself. Well-mannered passengers improve their odds at having the beverage cart stop a few extra times by their seat when thirsty.”
Meanwhile, a second flight attendant, Kat Kamalani, also revealed some insider tricks.
“This is the number one way that you can get a free drink on your next flight,” she said in a TikTok video.
“So if you’re sitting in your seat and your monitor or air conditioning or something is broken and we can’t fix it, we have a little iPhone that we can give you free complimentary drinks to make up for that mishap.”
However, she was quick to remind would-be complainers to remain polite, otherwise you’ll likely be turned down.
“Don’t be shy, if something is broken, tell the flight attendant, but make sure you’re polite about it.
“Because if you’re rude and mean, we’re not going to give you a free drink.”
