Prosecco DOC sponsors World Superbike Championships
The Prosecco DOC is set to sponsor the UK and Dutch Rounds of the 2021 World Superbike Championship (World SBK).
The Italian sparkling wine consortium has been a key sponsor of the Championship for nine years, with bottles of Italian fizz traditionally being used to celebrate and spray the winner on the podium after an exhilarating race.
The UK round will take place on 2-4 July at Donnington Park, while the Dutch Round will take place on 23 and 24th July at the TT Circuit Assen. Both circuits have been hosts to the WorldSBK event for twenty years, with Donnington Park hosting the first ever WorldSBK Round back in 1988, with the TT Circuit Assen joining the calendar in 1992.
The consortium said that being the event main sponsor agreement would strengthen the relationship between Dorna WSBK Organization and the Italian company.
It noted that with its determination “to increase the quality of its final product by working to innovate and perfect itself, Prosecco DOC the ideal partner for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship”.
Last year saw more than over 500 million bottles of Prosecco produced and sold. Sales of the Italian fizz have been uneven during the pandemic, with the popular Italian fizz enjoying some growth in key markets during 2020, with impressive levels of growth in markets including France, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, Poland and Austria, and single-digit for Germany.
