We round up the latest bar and restaurant news this week, including a sizzling Greek feast, a floating steakhouse staple, and a premium tequila brunch…

Smashing Plates

Greek restaurateur Neofytos Christodoulou has launched an exciting new restaurant in London Bridge, serving up an unorthodox take on Greek and Cypriot street food. Specialising in gyros, the top-notch kebabs are made to a family recipe using responsibly sourced meat, which is butchered in-house, marinated and grilled to order. Look out for the house ‘Smashing Sauce’, a combination of roasted aubergine and garlic butter.

Hawksmoor

As its flagship Spitalfields venue turns 15 years old, the steak gurus have announced the winter opening of a new restaurant and bar in Canary Wharf. Hawksmoor Wood Wharf will be set over three levels in an eco-friendly ‘floating pavilion’ in the docks, designed by Glenn Howells Architects. The 150-cover restaurant and 120-cover bar will boast “plenty of river-side seating” as well as a roof garden planted with wildflowers and grasses.

One of the few Mexican brunches in London, guests can expect more margaritas than you can shake a piñata at, as well as a special Mimosa kit to complement brunch dishes like veggie fajita bowls, taquitos and truffle frittatas. An unlimited vegan churros bar is every good as bit as it sounds. The party brunch will feature live entertainment, dancers and DJs, and will have a different theme each month from African-inspired beats to Zombies.
