Covent Garden to host three-week rosé festival
The mercury rising in the UK can mean only one thing – rosé season is upon us, and to celebrate all things pink, a three-week rosé festival will be taking place in Covent Garden.
As reported by the Evening Standard, to mark the return of indoor dining on 17 May, the London district of Covent Garden will host a three-week rosé festival.
The piazza and surrounding streets will see over 20 restaurants taking part in the event, pouring out 30 different rosés alongside rosé cocktails and frosé – frozen rosé.
The festival will feature nine dedicated rosé pop-ups from brand leaders including British-backed Provence rosé Mirabeau; canned wine brand Hun; and newcomer Amie, which was created by Abbie Roden, Will Sandbach (of the Oxford Wine Company) and Hermione Underwood during lockdown.
Pol Roger will be collaborating with seafood restaurant the Oystermen as part of the event to promote its canned rosé brand IGO, created by Carlos Lopez de Lacalle of Rioja estate Artadi.
Going big on the pink theme, macaron specialist Ladurée will host a rose inspired afternoon tea, while Whittard and Mariage Freres will serve over 40 rose blend teas between them.
Gelatorino Amorino will be serving rose-shaped ice cream cones, while fast food joint Shake Shack will sell a limited edition cherry blossom pink mikshake.
“We’re excited that Covent Garden will launch its first ever Rosé Festival on 17 May, which will kick off the late May Bank Holiday celebrations early.
“It forms part of an extended summer programme of culture, showcasing the best of food, shopping, music and the arts to welcome everybody back to Covent Garden and the heart of the West End,” Michelle McGrath, executive director of Capco Covent Garden, who manage the area, told the Evening Standard.
