Tesco praised for ad encouraging people to visit their local pub
Supermarket giant Tesco has been praised for an advert that encourages people to support their local pub as restrictions ease in England.
Pubs have had it tough this year. So, as good as our deals are, this week we’d rather you support your local pub (as long as you feel safe to do so). Because right now, #EveryLittleHelps.

Yesterday (Monday 12 April) was the closest that many of us in England have come to normality for quite some time. Hairdressers and barbers are now able to operate, non-essential shops have opened their doors, and pubs and restaurants are able to serve customers in an al fresco capacity.
Yes, despite an unseasonal bout of snow in some parts of England yesterday morning, drinkers returned to pubs in their droves, and supermarket giant Tesco is being praised for playing its part in encouraging its customers to support their local boozer.
Tesco’s ad, which has been widely shared across newspapers, magazines, billboards and on social media, reads:
“Pop to your local if you can.
“Pubs have had it tough this year, that’s why, for once, instead of telling you about our fantastic deals, we’re using this space to ask you to support them instead (as long as you feel safe to do so).
“Because right now, every little helps.”
And on social media, people have been sharing their appreciation for the ad and the sentiment behind it.
