Delevingne sisters secure Ocado listing for Della Vite
Sisters Cara, Poppy and Chloe Delevingne have secured a national listing for their premium Prosecco brand Della Vite, which is now available through Ocado.
Having launched the brand last September, the range, which includes Della Vite Superiore Prosecco DOCG and Della Vite Treviso Prosecco DOC, is now on sale through the online retailer with RRPs of £25.95 and £19.95 a bottle respectively.
The trio are hoping to launch their fizz in the US later this year, with LA-based Cara well poised to be able to promote the brand to an American audience.
Della Vite Superiore DOCG is made from hand picked Glera grapes hailing from 40-year-old vines in Valdobbiadene, and is fermented with natural yeasts.
According to its makers, the fizz has aromas of citrus blossom and is “rich and extra-dry” in character, “with hints of crostini and chamomile and a mineral palate that lingers”.
Designed to be enjoyed in cocktails, Della Vite Treviso Prosecco DOC meanwhile, is said to be “refined and versatile with a clean and bright palate” and “packed with aromas of jasmine and gooseberry”.
The sisters partnered with Carlo and Adriana Biasiotto, owners of the sustainably focused Foss Marai estate in Valdobbiadene, on the project.
In addition to Ocado, the sparklers are also on sale at high-end retailers including Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Jeroboams and Daylesford Organic, and will be on pour at Annabel’s and Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck when it reopens.
“Launching on Ocado has been one of our ambitions since we started Della Vite – we think that there is a great synergy between our customers and theirs, with both valuing products that are expertly crafted and producers who care about the planet,” Della Vite’s general manager, Clara Latham, said.
“It’s a proud moment for the Della Vite team to secure our first major grocery listing and be able to bring the brand to a wider audience across the UK.
“With restrictions starting to slowly lift, we think that Della Vite has a huge role to play in celebrations around the country as family and friends are reunited,” she added.
Ocado’s senior buying manager, Vanessa Pearson, said: “We are delighted that Ocado is the exclusive grocery retailer to launch Della Vite, a wonderfully fresh and crisp Prosecco made using sustainable production methods.
“We know this is going to be popular, especially as we enter springtime, and can’t wait to hear what our customers think.”
An in-depth interview with the Delevingne sisters appear in the April issue of the drinks business.
