Truck carrying fizzy drinks crashes through fence spilling thousands of bottles of soda into farmer’s field
An 18-wheel articulated lorry spilled thousands of bottles of fizzy drinks into a farmer’s field after crashing through his fence and overturning, leaving the ground underneath a sticky quagmire.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the 18-wheel HGV overturned on the A697 in Thrunton, Northumberland on Saturday morning, as it crashed through a farmer’s fence.
The driver of the lorry was treated for minor injuries and the road in question was reportedly closed for several hours while emergency teams attended to the scene.
An eyewitness said that the lorry had been full of cans of fizzy pop, several of which had burst – leaving the ground beneath a sticky quagmire.
Thankfully, it appears that no-one was seriously injured in the unusual incident. Though – as the witness quipped – it would probably be all for the best if no-one tried to open one of the fizzy drinks, which have surely been shaken beyond belief in the crash.
Meanwhile, a man witnessed just how much mess a carbonated drink can make when he appeared to save his date from being struck by a foul ball at a baseball game. A photographer attending the Spring Training matchup captured the incident in a series of images, which you can see for yourself here.
